As a working dad of three wild kids, I understand the importance of finding things to keep your children occupied. Perhaps more importantly, I understand the need to find the perfect cup of java to help me through all those fun kid experiences. Join me as I unveil the top 5 best coffee shops in St. Petersburg, FL along with nearby parks and children-friendly locations to explore while sipping your favorite brew.
Situated at 2662 Central Avenue, Bandit Coffee Co. is a trendy coffee shop that offers an inviting atmosphere for families. With its industrial-chic décor and friendly staff, it’s a perfect spot for parents who want to enjoy a delicious cup of coffee while their little ones engage in some creative playtime. If you’re a sucker for local murals like I am, don’t miss the opportunity to get a family selfie at the “Hello Saint Petersburg” mural on the building’s facade! Just a few blocks away, you’ll find Seminole Park (2900 3rd Ave North). Seminole Park offers plenty of shade, several playgrounds and picnic shelters. Java for you, playtime for them!
Nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of Old Northeast (722 2nd Street North) and in the heart of the Grand Central District (2151 1st Ave S) Black Crow Coffee is a cozy and eclectic coffee shop that welcomes families with open arms. Along with their handcrafted coffee creations, they offer delightful gluten-free and vegan treats for kids (sending a special shout-out to that Rosemary Shortbread Cookie!). One of my favorite parts of Black Crow is that they have been certified as a Zero Waste Company by our friends at Suncoast Compost. We love their commitment to our planet! After indulging in your favorite brew at any of their locations, take a short drive to North Shore Park (901 N Shore Drive NE), where your little adventurers can enjoy the playground, a walk through the Gizella Kopsick Palm Arboretum (605 11th Ave NE), or take in the beautiful view of Tampa Bay!
Nestled in the heart of downtown, Paredeco Coffee Roasters (111 2nd Ave NE Suite 101) is a charming Florida-themed coffee shop that warmly welcomes families. Step into this cozy establishment and be greeted by the aroma of freshly brewed specialty espresso drinks. Parents can relish their favorite caffeine fix or order a delicious breakfast sandwich while little ones can enjoy sipping on a smoothie or gobbling up some of their delicious overnight oats! If you need a drink recommendation, my favorite drink is the Maple Cinny Latte!
After indulging in the delightful offerings at Paredeco, it’s time to let your children unleash their energy at Straub Park. Located adjacent to Paredeco at 500 Beach Drive NE, Straub Park offers a green oasis in the heart of the city. The park boasts lush green spaces, ginormous Banyan Trees perfect for climbers, and beautiful waterfront views. Watch their faces light up as they explore the towering trees and experience the joy of being one with nature.
Heading to the beach for a day of fun in the sun? Be sure to make a stop at La Casa Del Pane (7110 Gulf Blvd) for some incredible coffee and beach snacks. This quintessential Italian bakeshop offers a patio for pizza & other cafe fare, plus breads, pastries & espresso. Just typing this out makes me hungry! Their wide range of freshly baked goods is sure to set you and your crew up for a fantastic day at one of our amazing St. Pete beaches.
With four locations spread throughout St. Petersburg, The Blend Coffee Shops ensure that you’re never far away from a delightful coffee experience. Whether you’re planning a trip to the beach, exploring a local park, or embarking on a family road trip, The Blend is your go-to destination. The convenience of their drive-thru service means you can grab your favorite coffee beverages and treats without leaving the comfort of your car. It’s a perfect solution for busy parents and a sure way to keep everyone in the car happy and caffeinated.
