What parent doesn’t need a few go-to playgrounds where they can sit while their kids run off their extra energy, right? We are lucky to live in St Petersburg, Florida which is home to an award-winning parks system so there’s never a shortage of options. Although there are many locations we enjoy, here are three of St Pete’s best playgrounds that our family frequents.
With a lake that boasts a convenient one(ish) mile loop, a great climbing tree, wide open spaces, and a top notch playground, Crescent Lake is one of our family’s favorite spots to hang out. Whether enjoying a picnic in the field (Chick-fil-a, of course) or watching the kids run and play, this park has something for everyone.
Our oldest loves to climb the large tree located near the playground and all three kiddos enjoy the playground equipment.
If you have little ones, you’ll love the fenced in play area that helps keep kids contained and safe.
For nature lovers, you’re likely to see ducks meandering in the water, dogs running in the fields, and on some occasions, even a couple locals training their macaws.
And for those of you wanting to get those steps in, you’ll love the walking path around the park that gives you a lovely view of the lake.
Topped off by some beautiful canyon trees, Crescent Lake Park is a popular destination for a variety of activities and events and is definitely one of our favorite spots in St Petersburg.

This playground on the St Pete Pier is our kids’ absolute favorite location. With a nautical theme that includes slides, swings, and tons of climbing structures, this is a truly expansive, colorful, and fun playground.
As you sit on a bench, you’ll see kids climbing to the tops of towers, rolling down hills, and running all about. Although a very popular location, the park is large enough to keep from feeling overcrowded.
Moms and dads will love the water fountains being nearby as well as public restrooms and even a restaurant. If your kiddos get too hot, you can simply walk over the the St Pete Pier Splash Pad for some bonus fun.
Anytime we have other children visiting our family, the Glazer Family Playground always makes it to the top of our activity list. From a great design to parent approved conveniences, this is definitely a spot to visit on your next trip to St Petersburg.

Our kids fell in love with the Dell Holmes Park thanks to it’s splash pad and expansive playground. We fell in love with it’s shaded tables and easy parking. Located by Lake Maggiore, Dell Holmes Park has everything you might need to enjoy a full day out in the sun.
Although we visit for the splash pad and playground, visitors can also find trails, a fishing pier, shelters with grills, golf driving range and putting green, kayak and canoe launch, and exercise zones. Yes, they truly thought of everything in this location.
Although the playground and splash pad area is quite large, we love that it’s fenced in and we can position ourselves to see most everything while the kids play. With tons of climbing opportunities (including boulders), fun water arches, and tons of space, this playground is fun for kids of all ages.
